IMC Agency

IMC is developing education business community partnerships in the region, playing an active part in the audio visual industries local economy and the media education hub serving the area.

IMC is in a unique position to access a range of services and expertise from consultants and software experts to digital artists.

Partnership Productions

The following productions involve a partnership between Wiltshire College and a range of clients. IMC has brokered an agreement where in exchange for a longer production cycle and carrying some risk, the client gets a cheaper product and a real engagement with the training of a small student production team. As a client-led production this may be an assessed assignment for the students; with a real client, a real budget and hard deadlines, the benefits of this safety netted exercise are considerable. In some cases students involvement is as interns and we are currently develiopiong an incubator programme enabling students who have completed their formal training to get a start in the industry. IMC provides quality control and expert input, bringing in industry professionals as appropriate. The productions below have been made with students from University of Bath Foundation Degree in Digital Media Arts (formerly HND Media Production) playing key roles.

New Partners?

Incubator prototype:         Porsche Boxster Buyers Guide

man in car A production partnership with Peter Morgan Media enabled the start up of the first IMC supported incubator programme. Two former HND Media Production students Kate Hornby and Tim Fernandez produced a buyers guide for Porsche Boxsters. Media was developed for DVD delivery alongside the existing PMM publication. Production took the crew to Porsche HQ in Coventry as well as shoots of the Boxster model in action in the Wiltshire countryside. The project enabled PMM to develop a prototype and provided a full production experience for the two former students. IMC is provided expert support and backup. The partnership evolved out of networking activity with locally based creative entrepreneurs and was an opportunity for IMC to test an incubator model for supporting completing higher level students

Scenario Planning in action: Regional Key Skills

The Scenario Planning toolkit is a blended learning product with IMC co-producing the DVD supporting the printed manual. This forms one of the central outputs from a major EU funded project on developing regional competencies using scenario planning tools. The production phase involved a shoot at the Eden Project recording the partners from Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark and the UK working through a series of scenario exercises. IMC collaborated with the UK lead organisation NIACE and co-producer of the DVD. IMC development officer Richard White worked closely with Simon Mauger from NIACE in devising this partnership production to extract maiximum training benefit for clients and interns. They worked as co-producers throughout the post production period developing the media for DVD distribution.

This was an intensive production partnership working on a high profile product. As well as providing training and a low budget product for the partner organisation the project created a number of significant opportunities for IMC interns.
